Stuck at 18/33 in The Roottrees are Dead?

If your progress reached 18 but the next story event seems missing, use this quick check to find exactly where progression stopped.

Check the WRTD Story Lead

After 18 is accepted, A New Development points you to the radio. The newscaster says you can search WRTD online. That search is story-gated: too early, and you may see an earlier result.

Why Hasn't the Phone Rung?

Before assuming it's a bug

  1. Does the counter actually say 18/33?
  2. Do you have A New Development?
  3. Have you followed the WRTD lead?

If all three are yes: your main family-tree count and WRTD lead appear correct.

Still no phone event?

At this point, the expected next serialized story state is The Phone Rings. If it still doesn't occur after the milestone and WRTD progression are complete, treat it as a progression issue rather than re-solving the family tree.

SAFE RECOVERY ORDER

  1. Confirm 18/33 is visible.
  2. Confirm A New Development is available.
  3. Check the WRTD lead.
  4. Return to the main game screen and re-check the story interaction.
  5. If The Phone Rings is already present, continue to the walkthrough.

If these all check out and the story still hasn't moved: your answers are probably not the issue.

Why Does the Counter Change to 18/33?

The progress denominator changes because you've completed the previous milestone. The next story target is 33 main relatives. The game does not require you to complete all 49 at once.

Partner and non-blood slots do not add to this main progress count.
