The Roottrees Are Dead Jobs & Occupations
Know the person but not the job, or the job but not the person? Go either way — look up what a relative did for a living, test a job against a tree entry, or start from a job and find everyone who held it.
Where an Occupation Goes
A blood relative's card asks for three things: who the person is, the portrait you matched them from, and what they did for a living. The tree will not accept the card without all three, so a job you cannot place is enough on its own to keep a branch from locking.
Not every card wants a job. A partner or spouse is checked on the name alone, and an extra portrait is only matched to the face it belongs to. If one of those is what will not lock, changing the occupation will make no difference.

Why Are Two Jobs Accepted?
A few relatives have a second job the tree will take, so the same card can lock with either one. That happens when the investigation points at more than one line of work for the same person — a family business, a career change, or a document that names a side job.
The second job is not a second career the game presents as equal. It is only a second answer the checker allows, which is why a guide and your own card can both be right while naming different jobs.
Occupation Problems in the Family Tree
The person is right but the job is wrong
The card is a partner or spouse
The card is an extra portrait
